LILLE at Christmas

Only two hours from Calais, this beautiful city makes an ideal Christmas venue.  The atmospheric Christmas stalls are close to major shops for easy exploring.  Visit the wonderful cheese and chocolate shops for Christmas fare.  There’s also a major indoor shopping centre, Euralille, for meals and great bargains. 

ACCOMMODATION

Hotel Ibis Lille Roubaix

This two-star hotel in Roubaix is a great venue for your group.  Relax after a busy day in twin en-suite bedrooms, and enjoy dinner in a bustling local restaurant.

Hotel B&B Lille

This one-star hotel offers comfortable en-suite rooms and is handy for exploring and shopping.  Pupils sleep two or three per room, staff in twins.  Your meals will be in a local restaurant.

Calais Auberge de Jeunesse

You can use Calais as your base then visit Lille for a day’s exploring and shopping.  This hostel accommodation remains popular with school groups, so book early!  Each twin bedroom shares en-suite shower and WC with one adjoining room.  In the evening, your party can relax in the pleasant dining room, large foyer and small staff bar.  Calais’s shops and market are only a few minutes’ walk away. 

TYPICAL ITINERARY FOR A FIVE-DAY TOUR
(Longer and shorter visits can be arranged)

Day One

Travel from School by coach and ferry or shuttle, sightseeing in St. Omer then hotel check-in and evening meal.

Day Two

Explore Lille’s Christmas markets and fine city centre.  Afternoon visit to Euralille for indoor shopping or explore the famous Museum of Fine Art.  Evening bowling.

Day Three

Day excursion to Paris.  Coach tour of the sights then visit to Notre Dame and ascent of Tour Montparnasse.  Shopping and restaurant evening meal, then evening drive to hotel.

Day Four

Shopping and language work in Lille.  Afternoon excursion to Vimy Ridge memorial site or the Mining Museum.

Day Five

Leave hotel after breakfast, morning of shopping at Cite Europe or visit a chocolate factory.  Return to School during the evening.
