Hotel Transit
This hotel has plenty of character and is a favourite with youth groups. Its Kreutzberg location is good for city sightseeing, only a kilometre from Checkpoint Charlie, and handy for U-Bahn and bus. The hotel is in a traditional courtyard building with 50 comfortable en-suite rooms. You can relax in the dining lounge and the reception bar is always manned. Good local restaurants can also provide your evening meal.

ITINERARY for a six-day historical tour
Day One
Leave School during the afternoon, drive to Kent for the Channel Crossing, evening meal and an overnight drive to Berlin. OR fly out with coach transfers in UK and Germany
Day Two
Sightseeing in the heart of Berlin. Visit the Brandenburg Gate, Unter den Linden and its magnificent buildings and ascend the Reichstag glass dome for a fabulous city view. You can use the excellent metro system or take a coach tour. Evening visit to the IMAX cinema at Potsdamer Platz
Day Three
Tour of Sachsenhausen concentration camp and its hidden world, then a visit to the 1936 Olympic Stadium, the public face of Nazi power. Evening at bowling centre.
Day Four
Visit Alexanderplatz, heart of the East German sector, and the landmark Fernsehturm. See the East Side Gallery with its displays of popular art. Afternoon guided tour of Wansee House, conference venue where Hitler’s “Final Solution” was ratified. Evening visit to Checkpoint Charlie and its adjacent museum showing so many ingenious ways to escape the East.
Day Five
Shopping in the huge Kurfurstendamm department store then a cultural visit to Charlottenburg Palace. Evening meal then coach departure with overnight travel to Calais

Morning Channel crossing then onward journey to School. OR extend your tour with a visit to Auschwitz and Krakow.
